Yamakavagga ⧸ The Twin-Verses
- Manopubbaṅgamā dhammā manoseṭṭhā manomay ⧸ Phenomena are preceded by the heart,

- Akkocchi maṃ avadhi maṃ ajini maṃ ahāsi m ⧸ He insulted me,

- Na hi verena verāni sammantīdha kudācana ⧸ Hostilities arent stilled
- Pare ca na vijānanti mayaṃ ettha yamāmas ⧸ Unlike those who dont realize
- Subhānupassiṃ viharantaṃ indriyesu asaṃvuta ⧸ One who stays focused on the beautiful,
- Asubhānupassiṃ viharantaṃ indriyesu susaṃvuta ⧸ One who stays focused on the foul,
- Anikkasāvo kāsāvaṃ yo vatthaṃ paridahessat ⧸ He who, depraved,
- Yo ca vantakasāvassa sīlesu susamāhit ⧸ But he who is free
- Asāre sāramatino sāre cāsāradassin ⧸ Those who regard
- Sārañca sārato ñatvā asārañca asārat ⧸ But those who know
- Yathāgāraṃ ducchannaṃ vuṭṭhi samativijjhat ⧸ As rain seeps into
- Yathāgāraṃ succhannaṃ vuṭṭhi na samativijjhat ⧸ As rain doesnt seep into
- Idha socati pecca socati pāpakārī ubhayattha socat ⧸ Here he grieves
- Idha modati pecca modati katapuñño ubhayattha modat ⧸ Here he rejoices
- Idha tappati pecca tappati pāpakārī ubhayattha tappat ⧸ Here hes tormented
- Idha nandati pecca nandati pāpakārī ubhayattha nandat ⧸ Here he delights
- Bahumpi ce sahitaṃ bhāsamān ⧸ Though he recites much the Sacred Texts (Tipitaka), but is negligent and does not practise according to the Dhamma, like a cowherd who counts the cattle of others, he has no share in the benefits of the life of a bhikkhu (i.e., Magga-phala).
- Appampi ce sahitaṃ bhāsamān ⧸ Though he recites only a little of the Sacred Texts (Tipitaka), but practises according to the Dhamma, eradicating passion, ill will and ignorance, clearly comprehending the Dhamma, with his mind freed from moral defilements and no longer clinging to this world or to the next, he shares the benefits of the life of a bhikkhu (i.e., Magga-phala).
