Hananti bhogā dummedhaṃ no ve pāragavesino
Bhogataṇhāya dummedho hanti aññe va attanā

Wealth destroys the foolish; but it cannot destroy those who seek the other shore (i. e., Nibbana). By his craving for wealth the fool destroys himself, as he would destroy others.
